And just like that, August is upon us. And in under two weeks, the 2024-25 Premier League season gets up and running.
There has been plenty of activity in the transfer market, albeit some of the bigger clubs have not been as busy as the media would have had you believe.
With just over three weeks remaining in the transfer window, which slams shut on August 30th, More Than A Game looks at one position of need for each Premier League side.
This is the second part of a two-part series. Read part one here.

LEICESTER CITY: MIDFIELDER
With PSR issues to try and resolve, Leicester needed a sale, and ultimately academy graduate Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was sold to Chelsea. Just how much of that money new Foxes boss Steve Cooper has had to play with is unclear, but Leicester could do with bringing in a replacement for Dewsbury-Hall if they are to boost their survival hopes.
LIVERPOOL: MIDFIELDER
The Reds are the only club across Europe’s top five leagues yet to make a senior signing this window. There has been a suggestion that Arne Slot feels there is enough quality in his squad, but that is not to say Liverpool have not been open to moves — Anthony Gordon, for example, is definitely a target. But as it stands, it doesn’t feel like another forward is what Liverpool need. Instead, they should be looking to bring in a top-tier holding midfielder. Wataru Endō is drawing interest from abroad, and even if the Japan international stays, Liverpool need better if they are to be able to challenge on all fronts and also play Alexis Mac Allister in a slightly more advanced role. Martín Zubimendi, who won Euro 2024 with Spain, is among the names that have been linked, and could be ideal. He would also follow in the footsteps of Xabi Alonso in switching from Real Sociedad to Anfield.
MANCHESTER CITY: MIDFIELDER
How can you improve Man City? Pep Guardiola’s juggernaut have won the Premier League for an unprecedented four straight seasons, and they will be the favourites again this term. That being said, they are on the verge (at the time of writing) of selling Julian Alvarez, a hugely useful, versatile attacker, to Atletico Madrid. Savinho, signed from Troyes, may well end up being Alvarez’s de-facto replacement, but a forward may well be on the agenda. But it’s perhaps in midfield that City do need a bit more. Rodri is incredible, but can he continue to go to the well each and every game? Kalvin Phillips will almost certainly be moved on and Matheus Nunes has flattered to deceive. City rate Bruno Guimarães highly, but the Newcastle United star would not come cheap.
