And just like that, August is upon us. And in under two weeks, the 2024-25 Premier League season gets up and running.
There has been plenty of activity in the transfer market, albeit some of the bigger clubs have not been as busy as the media would have had you believe.
With just over three weeks remaining in the transfer window, which slams shut on August 30th, More Than A Game looks at one position of need for each Premier League side.
This is a two-part series, with this piece covering the first 10 teams (in alphabetical order). Part two will drop later this week.

ARSENAL: STRIKER
Riccardo Calafiori has been signed for big money to bolster Arsenal’s defensive options, and the Gunners don’t exactly need any major surgery. Mikel Merino also seems set to come in to add a further box-to-box presence. But it still feels like Arsenal are a top-calibre striker away from having a near-complete squad (and arguably an out-and-out defensive midfielder). It’s that centre-forward, though, that we’re going for here. Should they be bold, then Victor Osimhen could just be the difference between the Gunners winning a trophy or not.
ASTON VILLA: STRIKER
Villa have been busy this window, both in terms of ins and outs as they attempted to deal with the threat of the Premier League’s PSR. Amadou Onana is an excellent addition in midfield, even with Douglas Luiz leaving, while Ian Maatsen adds to the left-back ranks (they now have three excellent players in that position mind, so expect Lucas Digne or Alex Moreno to move on. But up front, they do seem a tad light up front, especially for a Champions League campaign. So a striker to back-up and compete with Ollie Watkins, especially with Jhon Duran’s future being uncertain, seems sensible.
BOURNEMOUTH: CENTRE-BACK
Andoni Iraola had a fine first season at Bournemouth, despite a poor start to his tenure. And the Cherries have a solid squad that should be focused on safely securing a mid-table finish once again — albeit they could be left short if Dominic Solanke were to be sold. However, one area of need could be in defence, and a top-calibre centre-back could really help push Bournemouth on.
