It was a result that had been coming. England lost 3-1 to Senegal on Tuesday in Nottingham, as the Three Lions were defeated by an African team for the first time.
It was only a friendly, but England’s sub-par performance at the City Ground displayed everything that has been wrong in the early stages of Thomas Tuchel’s tenure.
Tuchel, on paper, looked a good fit to build on the excellent foundations that Gareth Southgate built. But based on the evidence so far, Tuchel is badly lacking.
