Here, we look back at three highs and three lows from the Premier League weekend.

THE GOOD

Beto has been linked with a move away from Everton this week, with Leeds United reportedly keen on securing the striker for next season. And though it remains to be seen whether the Toffees will elect to cash in on the 27-year-old in the summer, Beto’s goalscoring under David Moyes demonstrates how effective he can be if provided service — after his goal against Fulham on Saturday, the former Udinese forward has netted seven Premier League goals under Moyes, a tally bettered by only three other players (Alexander Isak, Mohamed Salah and Jean-Philippe Mateta) in the same time. The issue is, his all-round game, and that is why Moyes may ultimately prefer to move Beto on should, say, Dominic Calvert-Lewin agree to a new contract, with Everton in the market for a striker this summer. But Beto has done his chances of staying no harm at all, and if Calvert-Lewin and the club cannot agree fresh terms, it would be foolish to sell a player that has shown he knows where the net is.

Sandro Tonali got Newcastle United going after just 112 seconds against Chelsea on Sunday, and though the Magpies were then largely below par for the rest of the match, they just about got over the line and took a huge step towards Champions League qualification. Tonali, though, is enjoying a fine time. Given the license to get forward from midfield, whether playing in a three or a two, the Italy international has certainly put that long suspension behind him, and is demonstrating why Newcastle paid such big money to bring him to the club in 2023. He now has four league goals for the season, and his effort on Sunday could just be his most crucial one yet.
