Earlier in the day, Slovenia hit back to draw 1-1 with Denmark.
Christian Eriksen’s neat finish put the Danes ahead in the 17th minute in Stuttgart, but Erik Janza’s deflected strike ensured a share of the spoils for Slovenia, meaning a win for England against Denmark on Thursday would send the Three Lions into the next round.
Sunday’s other match saw the Netherlands come from behind to beat Poland 2-1, with Wout Weghorst scoring just two minutes after coming on from the bench.
STILL TO COME…
Monday sees Group E kick into action, with Romania taking on Ukraine in the early match (2pm BST) before Belgium get their tournament started against Slovakia.
Later on, favourites France face Austria.
Speaking ahead of his team facing Les Bleus, Austria coach Ralf Rangnick said:
“That is crucial tomorrow, that we will be courageous, that we are convinced of our own strength.
“What’s really vital is the way that we perform, not the way France play, or whether they are a little bit better or a little bit worse. It’s only about us.
“We prepared for over two years for this day. We’re really excited. There’s joy above everything else.”

Bellingham is too much for everyone. What a pleasure to watch him playing.
