Wayne Rooney did not mince his words in an interview with The Washington Post last week, as he made his frustrations over his situation at D.C. United known.
Since taking over at Audi Field last year, Rooney has overseen a turnaround in fortunes for D.C.
They were languishing at the bottom of the Eastern Conference in mid-2022, but this season, D.C. are well in the hunt for a place in the play-offs. Yes, they have lacked the consistency required to put themselves in pole position, but ahead of Saturday’s meeting with San Jose Earthquakes, they are ninth and well in contention.
Yet as far as Rooney’s concerned, he has been shown a serious lack of love from the club.
