Ancelotti the perfect man for Madrid's new era
Having rejected Brazil's advances, Carlo Ancelotti is staying put in Madrid.
After a year of uncertainty, Carlo Ancelotti has committed his future to Real Madrid.
Reports that the Brazilian football confederation (CBF) hoped to lure Ancelotti into international management have been rife since December 2022, first emerging mere days after the Selecao were dumped out of the World Cup by Croatia.
With Ancelotti refusing to distance himself from those suggestions, senior figures at the CBF seemed extremely confident of getting their man, appointing Fernando Diniz as interim boss with a view to Ancelotti taking charge when his contract expired at the end of this season.
Those plans are now in tatters after Ancelotti penned a new deal with Los Blancos, committing to the club until 2026.
Ancelotti's four UEFA Champions League titles have earned him a reputation as the king of cups, a master of man management with a knack for extracting the maximum from talented individuals.
In the next phase of his reign, Ancelotti might be asked to take on a new role; that of a project coach tasked with ushering in a new era while ensuring Madrid retain their place at the top of Spanish and European football.
Here, More Than A Game explains why Ancelotti remains the perfect man for the job.
